Voodoo Brewery Las Vegas: Hidden Gem in the Arts District (Owner Spotlight)

If you only know Voodoo Brewery from Pennsylvania, you’re missing one of its coolest twists: the Las Vegas outpost. Tucked just off the main drag in the Arts District, Voodoo Brewery Las Vegas is part craft beer bar, part music venue, part community hangout—with a Vegas edge all its own.

We sat down with Alison, the owner of Voodoo Brewery Las Vegas, to talk about how she turned an empty shell into a neon-soaked beer spot, what makes their location different from the original Pennsylvania brewery, and why her patio is quickly becoming a go-to for locals, bands, and brides in wedding dresses.

What Makes Voodoo Brewery Las Vegas Different?

Voodoo Brewery started in Pennsylvania, but the Vegas location operates as its own “personality,” or as Alison calls it, the Vegas Voodoo spin.

They pour Voodoo’s core beers and seltzers, but the Las Vegas taproom:

  • Leans into creative cocktails made with antioxidant powders (think dragonfruit and green elixirs)

  • Builds its own seasonal and signature drinks, like the Black Cherry Woman cocktail created by one of their bartenders

  • Curates a music-first, event-heavy vibe that fits the Arts District scene

It’s still undeniably Voodoo—but with louder music, more color, and that “found a cool spot down a side street” energy.

The Flight: What We Drank on the Podcast

For our Pour Decisions episode, Alison built us a lineup that showed off both the fun and the firepower of their tap list.

🍉 Watermelon Dragonfruit Seltzer – 5%

Light, bright, and poured over ice, this seltzer is made for Vegas heat. It’s one of their flagship taps—easy drinking, fruity, and perfect for people who want something refreshing that isn’t a heavy beer.

If you like this one, their dragonfruit-based cocktails are right up your alley, since many are made with antioxidant powders instead of heavy syrups.

💗 Love Child – Belgian Tripel, 9%

Alison did not come to play with this one.

Love Child is a Belgian tripel clocking in at 9%, and it’s the kind of beer that feels like a treat: stronger, richer, and very much a “must try” if you’re into complex beers.

Alison calls it one of the beers she usually saves for the end of a session—more of a premium finisher than a casual first sip. It’s unique, bold, and easily one of the standouts on the menu.

🌈 Vibrant Thing – Fruited Pale Ale, 7.1%

Alison’s personal drink during our recording was Vibrant Thing, a fruit pale ale sitting at 7.1%. Even she admits it’s higher ABV than she usually drinks, but it’s that good.

It brings fruit character without losing its pale ale backbone—something flavorful enough for beer nerds but approachable enough if you’re easing your way into hoppier styles.

☁️ Hazy Vibes, White Magic & More

Beyond what we had in front of us, Voodoo Brewery Las Vegas keeps things interesting with:

  • Hazy Vibes – their hazy IPA option for those who love juicy, soft bitterness

  • White Magic of the Sun – a bright, Belgian-inspired wheat beer with a cult following

  • Lacto Cooler & fruited styles – colorful, fun, and perfect for people who love sour or fruit-forward beers

  • Rotating seasonal taps from the Pennsylvania brewery, adjusted to Vegas’ very different seasons

Some beers, like Cowbell and heartier stouts, show up more as the weather cools—though, as Alison points out, Vegas “fall” hits a little differently when it’s still hot at the end of October.

Cocktails, Antioxidants & “Vegas Flair”

This isn’t just a beer bar. Voodoo Brewery Las Vegas has a full cocktail program, and Alison has a clear vision for it:

  • Cocktails are built with antioxidant powders like dragonfruit and green elixir

  • Bartenders are encouraged to create their own signature drinks, like the popular Black Cherry Woman

  • The cocktail menu shifts with the seasons and the weather

So if you’re the friend who loves the brewery vibe but prefers a cocktail, you’re good here.

Building a Brewery From a Tool Shed

Before it became a hangout spot, the building that houses Voodoo Brewery Las Vegas was… rough.

“There was no floor, no electricity, no plumbing—it was basically a tool shed,” Alison recalls.

From meeting the Voodoo Brewery team in 2020 to finally opening the doors, the process took about two and a half years. Finding the right location, dealing with construction, and bringing the design to life was a long game, but the transformation is wild:

  • A large garage door that opens the space up

  • A fully built-out bar and tap system

  • Walls filled with skateboard decks Alison collected over the years and boards donated by locals

  • A space that balances industrial bones with playful, slightly chaotic decor

Looking at the “before” photos compared to the current taproom, it’s obvious why Alison lists seeing it all come togetheras one of her favorite parts of the journey.

Hidden Location, Big Patio Energy

One of the coolest things about Voodoo Brewery Las Vegas is that it isn’t parked directly on Main Street.

It’s tucked just off the main strip of the Arts District, which means:

  • It feels like a hidden gem you stumble onto

  • There’s room for a huge patio with outdoor games, Adirondack chairs, and a stage

  • It can host large events, live music, and themed parties without feeling cramped

They’ve had events with hundreds of people spread between the patio and front parking lot, and it still feels more like a festival than a fight for space.

Community First: Vendors, Stickers & Stocked Bathrooms

Alison’s trade show background shows up in how she approaches the space: she treats it like a platform for other peopletoo.

Some of the ways community shows up here:

  • Regulars and bands are encouraged to bring vendors—artists, makers, and small businesses can set up and sell during events

  • The walls and skate decks are layered with stickers from other local businesses and creatives

  • The women’s bathroom is stocked with a basket of free essentials—hair products, lotion, and little “I forgot this” items for nights out

It’s small touches like that that make the place feel more like a community living room than just a bar.

Events: From Brides of March to Reggae Afterparties

If you’re looking for a quiet, empty bar… check the calendar first.

Voodoo Brewery Las Vegas is event-heavy, especially during peak season:

  • Live music several nights a week, spanning punk, alternative, R&B, rap, trippy alt, and DJ sets

  • Reggae Rise Up afterparties, with stacked lineups on festival weekends

  • A vegan brunch with a local plant-based food vendor

  • Annual Pride events and celebrations

  • A puppy event (yes, dogs plus beer—10/10 concept)

One of Alison’s favorite events is Brides of March—a wild, long-running Las Vegas bar crawl where people of all genders put on wedding dresses and hop from bar to bar:

“By the time they get here, we’ve got drunken brides from the front of the property to the back,” she laughs.

Now that the live music side has grown, Alison curates more intentionally—balancing full-house shows with keeping the bar welcoming for regulars who want to drop in for a casual beer.

Women in Beer & Owning the Space

Alison is the sole owner of Voodoo Brewery Las Vegas, and she’s part of a growing wave of women shaping the local beer scene—from brewery owners to brewers to fermentation experts.

She gives credit to communities like Pink Boots Society and the many women running or co-running businesses throughout the Arts District. It’s a neighborhood where you can walk a few blocks and find multiple women behind the bar, in the brewhouse, or signing the checks.

Opening the bar wasn’t quick—and plenty of people doubted it would ever happen—but seeing her dad finally walk into the finished space after years of hearing about it made the grind worth it.

Family, Dogs & Who’s Welcome

Even though it’s a brewery, Voodoo Brewery Las Vegas is designed to feel open and welcoming:

  • Dog-friendly patio – they’ve even hosted puppy-focused events

  • All-ages friendly on the patio, so parents can enjoy a beer while kids hang out

  • Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating options for groups, music nights, and casual dates

It’s not just a pregame spot—it’s a “hang all afternoon, stay for the band, and grab one last pour” kind of place.
